What to Expect

North Shore Animal Hospital Entrance

Thank You for choosing us for your pet's health care needs and Welcome to  North Shore Animal Hospital!

We are located at 4630 Douglas Ave. in Caledonia, WI.  You will find us on the West side of Douglas Ave. between 3 and 4 mile Roads.  We do have ample parking for your convenience.  Please let us know in advance if you need help getting your pet inside.  We are always happy to help!

We do ask that you provide us with any previous medical records along with any information that you think will be important for your pet's future medical care needs.  If possible, we appreciate acquiring these records in advance.

Please try to arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so that we can get  your pet comfortably checked-in and weighed.  We may also have forms for you to complete or previous records to copy and review.

For their safety, please bring your pet in a carrier or on a short leash in order to keep them close to you during their visit with us.

You and your pet will be called to one of our examination rooms as quickly as possible to minimize your waiting time and the stress for your pet.

We love happy patients, so your pet will probably receive a lot of treats during their visit!  If your pet has specific allergies or a special treat they really enjoy, please notify a staff member and feel free to bring your pet's own treats with you.  We do sometimes use peanut butter as a treat for our patients.  Please let us know if any members of your family are allergic to peanut butter.

We practice Fear Free methods here at North Shore Animal Hospital as we want you and your pet to have the best experience during their visit with us.  We use gentle handling and minimal restraint.  If there is anything that will make your pet's visit even better, please don't hesitate to let a staff member know.

We recommend that your pet receives an annual wellness exam. This enables us to detect many health issues and diseases that would otherwise go undiagnosed and untreated.  Our wellness exam includes a full physical exam from head to tail, including an oral exam if the patient allows, and  a consultation session with one of our Veterinarians to address any concerns that you may have regarding your pet.  We will also ask you to complete a Risk Factor questionnaire to help us determine what your pet's  specific health care needs are. We can also update any recommended vaccines and preventative screening tests that are due at that time.

In some cases and circumstances, we will refer you to a  Veterinary Specialist who has advanced expertise in areas such as internal medicine or specialized surgery.
